A Fun Hike with Stunning Views

The hike to Stwlan Dam starts in the lovely village of Tanygrisiau. As you make your way up, you'll pass through lush valleys and rocky hills, giving you a taste of Eryri’s diverse landscapes. The trail is moderately challenging, making it a fun adventure for most walkers and you'll be treated to amazing views all along the way.

When you reach Stwlan Dam, you'll be greeted by a serene lake set against rugged mountains. It's part of the Ffestiniog Power Station, an impressive piece of engineering history. The dam offers a peaceful spot to rest and take in the surrounding beauty. From here, you can enjoy panoramic views of Eryri’s (Snowdonia) peaks and valleys.

Trail Details

The round-trip hike is about 4 miles and has a moderate elevation gain. The path is well-marked and fairly easy to follow, but it's always a good idea to bring a map and check the weather before you head out. Along the way, you'll pass Tanygrisiau Reservoir and be surrounded by the calming sounds of nature.
