BEST PLACES FOR WILD SWIMMING IN SNOWDONIA

If you're looking for a holiday with wild swimming, the area surrounding Plas Weunydd Hotel & Glamping in North Wales is the perfect destination. With stunning beaches, scenic rivers, and breathtaking views, there are plenty of opportunities to take a dip and explore the great outdoors. So, grab your swimsuit and get ready to jump in!

Black Rock Sands

Black Rock Sands is a stunning beach 30 minutes away from Plas Weunydd by car. The beach boasts miles of golden sand, and the clear waters of Cardigan Bay make it a great spot for wild swimming. The beach is also surrounded by rugged cliffs and dunes, offering plenty of opportunities for exploration and relaxation. In addition to swimming, the beach is a popular spot for kiteboarding, windsurfing, and beachcombing.

Harlech Beach

Harlech Beach is a beautiful stretch of dunes and coastline, just a short drive from Plas Weunydd Hotel and Glamping. The beach views are breathtaking, with the mountains looming in the distance. If you're feeling adventurous, you can even walk up to Harlech Castle, located in Harlech Village, on the hilltop overlooking the beach.

Harlech village has lots to offer after your swim. The Harlech Grocer is a small deli and grocer that carries speciality foods & wines, including many Welsh items. We recommend grabbing a seat near the window overlooking the castle and ordering a post-swim cheese board with a glass of wine. Afterwards, wander across the street to Two Black Sheep for a look at the most lovely wool and crafts shop. Then, make your way over to Pwts Homewares, an independent shop selling beautifully curated items for your home. With a lovely mix of shops, restaurants and cafes, Harlech is one of our favourite destinations pre- or post-swim!

River Swims

One of the best ways to swim in this area is to dip in the rivers and streams you come across while hiking. Our favourite is Afon Glaslyn, which runs through the heart of Eryri. The hike is also incredibly scenic, and there are plenty of places to stop and dip along the way. Start at the National Trust car park in Nantmor Village, south of Beddgelert. From here, it is a short stroll to the fisherman's path, which will take you along the side of the Aberglaslyn Gorge and the River Glaslyn. While Beddgelert has plenty of pubs and cafes to choose from, we recommend the Hebog for a menu unique to this area.

There are plenty of opportunities for wild swimming near Plas Weunydd Hotel & Glamping. Whether you're looking for a quiet beach, a challenging hike, or a scenic river, the area has something for everyone.
