history
Blaenau Ffestiniog is a historic mining town located in the county of Gwynedd and is renowned for being the "slate capital of the world."
Plas Weunydd was once the residence of the Greaves family, who established the slate mine at Llechwedd in Blaenau Ffestiniog in the 1840s. The Slate Landscape of Northwest Wales, which runs through Gwynedd, became the world leader in the production and export of slate during the 1800s. Today, it is a remarkable heritage site that attracts thousands of visitors.
